Our Training Philosophy

Our No-Fear and No-Pain Guarantee

Consistent with the position statements of the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior. We’re proud to use only force-free, reward-based training (i.e. non-aversive) methods. With greater  advances in behavioural science research, over the past decade, the dog training world has evolved from outdated, fear, pain and aversion based techniques (such as shock collars, prong collars, physical punishment, dominance theory and "corrections") towards a more humane, reward-based and science-backed approaches that do not distress your dog.

Research consistently shows that non-aversive methods are just as effective in tackling most dog behaviours but without the nasty side effects.

At The Pawsitive Focus, we believe every dog deserves kindness, respect, and patience. That’s why we never use e-collars, shock collars,  choker or prong collars - ever.

Clients Say ...

"Marc’s unique ability to understand our dog’s emotional needs helped us focus on what she truly required, and we saw quick, meaningful improvements. His patience and kindness made the whole process enjoyable, and it’s been so heartwarming to see her grow happier and more confident thanks to his guidance. We’re deeply grateful for the way Marc has helped her thrive—he’s truly unlike any trainer we’ve worked with before."

Marc and Jayne were truly the best dog trainers/ caregivers we’ve ever had—kind, patient, and so genuine in their love for dogs. They helped us build such a strong bond with our pup, and we’re forever grateful. Any dog (and owner!) lucky enough to work with them is in for something special.

"We’re so grateful for Marc and his family. From the very beginning, they showed such warmth, patience, and understanding toward our dogs — and to us! They took the time to really get to know each dog’s unique personality and needs, and helped us find new patterns and ways of connecting that made a huge difference at home. Our dogs came back happy, calm, and clearly cared for. It’s such a comfort to know they were in the hands of someone who truly loves what they do. We can’t thank Marc enough for his dedication, compassion, and guidance. We wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking for a trainer who treats your dogs like family"

~ Candyce D.

"We absolutely love boarding our dog with Marc! He’s not only a wonderful sitter but also a trainer, so we always feel safe and confident leaving our pup with him. Our dog gets so excited to go to daycare, especially since he met his best friend ,Coco, at Marc’s and loves playing there. We couldn’t ask for a better sitter!"
